SBDA Dress Code
Here at SBDA we honor and cherish self expression of our dancers. We want every student to be able to show their own personality through their dance attire. Because of this we do not require a strict dress code. Although it is required our dancers dress properly and in dance attire/active wear for movement and the different styles of dance they are taking. Below are what is needed for for each class...
Tot
Dancers need a simple black tap shoe as well as ballet slippers or sneakersWe recommend getting a shoe fitting at Bailey’s Slipper Shop.. Tots should wear dance attire or active wear. The online store Discount Dance has many adorable and affordable options for attire and shoes. Many have also purchased outfits and shoes from Target, Walmart, etc.
ACRO
Dancers should wear dance attire or active wear with bare feet. We recommend tight fitted tops or leotard to prevent their top for falling when going upside down during tricks. Tap
Tap dancers need a simple black tap shoe. We recommend getting a shoe fitting at Bailey’s Slipper Shop. Dancers should wear dance attire or active wear. **certain competitive tap dancers will require a different shoe. Please ask teacher in this case**
Jazz
Jazz dancers need a simple tan jazz shoe. We recommend getting a shoe fitting at Bailey’s Slipper Shop. Dancers should wear dance attire or active wear. Ballet

Pointe
Ballet dancers need a pink split sole leather ballet shoe. We recommend getting a shoe fitting at Bailey’s Slipper Shop. Dancers should wear a leotard and tights. Some dancers feel more comfortable with a ballet skirt and/or shrug on as well. The online store Discount Dance has many unique and affordable options for leotards, tights, and ballet skirts/shrugs. Many have also purchased outfits and shoes from Target, Walmart, etc.
**Please be sure if you are ordering from the Amazon brand "Stelle" you get the color "ballet pink" NOT the "pink"**
Hip-Hop
Hip-Hop dancers are able to wear any street wear and sneakers they feel comfortable moving in. No jeans or tight bottoms that restrict movement. Wet or muddy footwear must be removed before enter classroom! The online store Discount Dance has many unique and affordable options for hiphop attire and sneakers. Many have also purchased outfits and shoes from Target, Walmart, etc.
**A specific color/style of sneaker may need to be purchased for recital based on what costume the teacher picks out. Teachers will have this decided by March**
Dancers need will either need bare feet, a tan jazz shoe, or a lyrical shoe (a.k.a "turners") that match the color of their skin. Dancers should wear dance attire or active wear. **The specific shoe needed for performances will be announced by March. Dancers can wear what they prefer of the three options until then**
